09:23 pm - Home home on the range So yeah, this is a day that needs to END! END! Physically, I feel better than I did this morning, though that's not saying much. I just rose from a short nap, and don't feel much the better for it. I did recover enough energy this afternoon to walk back up the drag, get some tea, stop at Trader Joe's for some peanut butter and walk back home, where I cooked and ate a quick dinner.
I could have done a better job of hydrating today (I downed a 33 oz bottle of water I got at 5 am while making change for the bus, but otherwise that's about it), so perhaps I can work on that for the next hour or so, then take an early bedtime and hopefully awake on Monday morning refreshed and ready to go. One plus from this weekend's adventure is that it will incidentally knock me back onto an early sleep schedule, which will help if/when I get myself another daytime position and need to get to work by 8-9 am.
I don't hate drinking, but I hate punting the day after. I'm sure a lot of you feel the same way. Good thing I had no real plans for today: The jack and crap I got done today is about what I expected out of this Sunday pre-party, so call it a wash.
A friend named Newt test drove that drug Chaser for an article in a Vegas weekly years ago (obviously while I was still in Vegas, so I'd say 5-6 years ago), and he said it didn't work at all. And he didn't exactly have a massive amount of beer that night, probably 4-5 okay-ish beers, not enough to destroy you but enough to really feel it in the morning. Otherwise I'd test drive it myself. Really, the short answer is to just hydrate while you drink. While I did do that during my first stiff drink, I stopped abruptly.
The M's game took place early today and they got plowed in the late innings so no need to watch that. I'll probably catch up on minor league writing tomorrow and Tuesday night.
